I found this stuffed in the corner of my room under a pile of boxes and clothes that I had not touched for months.  I am not sure when I wrote it but I assume it was late at night trying to clear my brain so I could sleep. It pretty well sums up what snowboarding is to me right now. It is a little rough and was not meant to be published but it stoked me out in the heat of the summer so I thought I would share it as is.

Being outside and experiencing an environment created by something far more powerful than what man can create returns man to his most simple instincts

Thank you for posting this. The images you post are mind-blowing stoke-inducers, but this is something entirely different. That core of my being that is yearning for snow, aching to get past this summer heat and dive into riding again is reeling from your words. Very powerful thoughts here Jeremy. Your love for the mountains is truly infectious. You really are an inspiration. Thanks again.

Replace the words heli, with resort and I can agree with you on a level that most people will never take the time to understand. Keep doing what your doing, you make me realized that my dreams really are possible.

I take comfort in this – thank you for expressing what I assume many people feel but do not have a regular outlet for!

Thanks for sharing this. Its humbling and an inspirational. I totally agree that the whole process, the prep, the approach, the gnarly ridges, scoping the lines, feeling the snowpack out at different elevations, its an immersive experience. Far more then taking a heli or chairlift to the top. Long before machines helped us up the mountain, people hiked and skied up, its like going back to the roots and finding a deeper connection with the mountains. Amazing stuff Jeremy, this post is getting forwarded to everyone I know.

Ha…nice post Kyuule…I’m in the same boat….replace heli with resort or cat and Jeremy’s posting is exactly how I try to live my life…the little things don’t matter…get out and live your life and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t….thanks again Jeremy for putting this into words for everyone to see…

Yes! Those transcendental moments, where I forget that I exist separately from the world around me, are why I snowboard. It’s an amazing thing. Thanks for sharing this.

Hey-
wonderful stuff! Love the green shade of your enthusiasm. I am hoping to connect with you about doing a movie night or slide show at the new campus of Sierra College in Truckee. We are doing an opening night to generate interest in a new disc course that we want to build on our 73 acre site. Please call me. 530-550-2230.
Thanks.

To be fully submersed in a rich life…

In the midst of a Boston summer it is great to come back to the site and find a gem like this. For some reason I want to turn it into a Mad Libs. A good day ________ is a day where the real world is completely removed from ________.

Thanks for posting this. It is unbelievable, and brought long imagined emotions to the surface. You are an unbelievable rider, and in my family we are big fans. Thank you for offering us this insight into your world not many of us have the chance or skill to ride these lines, and not many of those who do write about it. You should inquire about getting published. I am sure it would get the healthy attention it deserves. Much respect. Tariq.

Jones, you’re beginning to understand! You were given a lot of inspiration for that entry (from whatever source), and as you were given, you gave back by putting your thoughts onto paper and posting here for the benefit of us all. I like how you enjoy experiencing nature as it should be…without choppers or other disturbances. Keep shredding and maintain a positive mind and you’ll be lifted to an even higher state of self-mastery.

Jeremy, This is really awesome man…I can feel what you said in every single word. Sometimes when I’m just driving up to the mountains, especially when I’m alone, I will just get that high and have the biggest smile.
After asking 24 people to come riding tomorrow, and getting turned down by all of them…its gonna be one of those days man getting entwined with your surroundings and making the best of those little jibs on the side of the runs, I think I enjoy those just as much as a un-trekked line. Keep loving it man. Phil-

[...] You’ll never look through Jeremy’s goggles but if your lucky he just might share a glimpse of what he’s seen on his Sony HD helmet cam. Same goes for his journal that sits to the right. You’ll never read it, but on occasion he’ll open it and share his inner vision. [...]
