PRESS RELEASE, Squaw Valley USA, Professional Big-Mountain Snowboarder Jeremy Jones is proud to announce his latest contribution to the world of snowboarding – Jones Snowboards.
Based in Squaw Valley, CA, Jones Snowboards is the product of Jones’s desire to develop a line of snowboards catering specifically to freeriders.
Drawing on over 25 years in the snowboard industry and the peer proven talent that won him Snowboarder Magazine’s Big Mountain Rider of the Year Award an unprecedented eight times, Jones will combine his passion for freeriding with his vast research and design experience to deliver authentic products that far exceed today’s standards of freeride snowboards.
“I have started Jones Snowboards to develop the highest performance all-mountain snowboards on the market,” says Jones. “Freeride boards that reflect everything I’ve learned both on the snow and in the factory. Every snowboard we produce will be born of my passion and our designs will mirror the performance demands of my riding matched with the environmental demands of my conscience.”
The 125-year-old, family owned Swiss manufacturer Nidecker was chosen to engineer and manufacture Jones Snowboards because of their long-standing reputation as one of the most innovative and technologically advanced snowboard producers in the world.
“Jeremy’s talents have always inspired us here at Nidecker,“ says Henry Nidecker, company president. “We are excited to collaborate with him on this new project and offer Jones Snowboards both the award-winning technologies and the commitment to quality that we’re well known for after 25 years of building boards.”
With prototypes already in production, Jones Snowboards will make their first appearance at SIA and ISPO 2010. Expect worldwide distribution for the 2010-2011 winter season.

JONES
SNOWBOARDS
Translated by Félix Martínez

I just got my new megalight today..true story..It’s been dumping here alot already, pow slashes and mini jibs at targs.I had heard wisperings of this project from around the block,i.e. ogden, yer bro, etc and now that it’s live…..man am I stoked..For you, you’re family, nidecker, and well, snowboarding in general.I could not be more proud of decisions you have made to consistantly move beyond the conventional boundries of the “snowboard industry”. Be it with the terrain, or the interpretation of,, the approach, method, equipment, brand, sponsor etc, etc etc,;it is both commendable and admirable to the fullest.
Looking to the future; Nideckers weatlh of manufacturing experience, coupled with Ratiguet’s knowledge box of snowboard shape/design/construction, and you’re equal(25+ yrs) shredding, is going to produce some of the cleanest freeride boards the world has ever seen. Believe this.Hit me back and i’ll relay an encyclopedia of what I know/learned all those years waving the Ndk flag.
Thank you once again for taking these steps toward something different, isn’t that what snowboarding is all about???
PS, best of luck with the little ones, maybe we’ll see you guys around christmas @ targs..
pps. R u riding bent boards???i.e. camrock

Comment by Dimitry October 14, 2009 @ 9:58 pm
Hey Jeremy,
Do you plan on using recycled materials and energy efficient building methods to make your boards as enviro friendly as possible? Will Nidecker work with you on this, where Rossignol wouldn’t?
Ian
Comment by ION October 19, 2009 @ 12:41 pm
I have worked for Rossignol in Finland for few years now and I am sure that Jeremy has had very strong, positive influence on all Rossignol snowboards. For example, previous model of Jones (especially longer ones) was one of the best board I’ve ever riden! Too sad this year model is magne traction..
I really hope Jones Snowboards will have importer in Finland and it would get lots of attention in media. Are you gonna produce only big mountain boards or will you have some freeride models too?
Comment by Janne October 22, 2009 @ 1:51 pm
Jeremy,
Good news, I have hoped you would take this step for yourself and all of us who will benifit from it. Also any plans for a long board, like a 190? The tall chargers (like myself) would love to see a board like that.
Robert
